Venus & Adonis
"Venus and Adonis" is a narrative poem by William Shakespeare (1593) that retells the classical myth in which the goddess Venus pursues and attempts to seduce the handsome youth Adonis, who rejects her advances in favor of hunting—only to be tragically killed by a wild boar, leaving Venus to mourn his death.
