The Staatstheater Stuttgart is staging a theatrical adaptation of Hans Fallada's classic 1932 novel *Kleiner Mann – was nun?*, which follows the young couple Emma ("Lämmchen") and Johannes Pinneberg as they struggle to survive economically during the Great Depression. The production brings this story of love, poverty, and social hardship to the stage in a contemporary dramatization.
