L’autel des morts
**L'autel des morts** (the altar of the dead) refers to the traditional Mexican *ofrenda* built for the Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), on which families place photos, candles, food, flowers (especially marigolds), and cherished objects of deceased loved ones to welcome their spirits back home during the celebration on November 1–2.
