The Zawose Queens
The Zawose Queens — Pendo and Leah Zawose, the first female lead vocalists of Tanzania's famous musical family — perform ecstatic polyphonic singing and fluid polyrhythms of the Gogo tradition, blending traditional instruments with electronics, as heard on their 2024 debut album *Maisha*.
