Die Winterreise
**Die Winterreise** is Franz Schubert's famous song cycle (composed 1827), a setting of 24 poems by Wilhelm Müller that follows a heartbroken wanderer's bleak journey through a winter landscape. Performances typically feature a vocalist (often a baritone) and pianist performing the complete work, renowned as one of the pinnacles of the German Lied repertoire.
