Die Orestie
The *Oresteia* is a trilogy of tragedies by the ancient Greek playwright Aeschylus (458 BCE) that follows Orestes as he avenges his father Agamemnon's murder by killing his mother Clytemnestra, and is then pursued by the Furies. It concludes with his trial in Athens, where Athena's intervention establishes the transition from blood vengeance to formal justice through the courts.
