PAGLIACCI
*Pagliacci* is an 1892 opera by Ruggero Leoncavallo about a troupe of traveling clowns whose jealous leader, Canio, murders his unfaithful wife Nedda during a performance—blurring the line between the comedy on stage and his own tragic reality. Its famous aria "Vesti la giubba" ("Laugh, clown, laugh!") captures Canio's anguish as he must perform while his heart is breaking.
