Maria Jarema Revolutionary Commissar of Abstraction
Maria Jarema (1908–1958) was a multifaceted Polish artist—sculptor, painter, printmaker, costume and stage designer, and actress—centered in Kraków, where she co-founded the Kraków Group, a leftist, anti-nationalist art collective, and developed a distinctive formal language spanning the interwar and postwar periods.
