The Siege of Athens
The Siege of Athens refers to the siege of the city by Spartan forces during the Peloponnesian War (405–404 BC), which followed Athens' naval defeat at Aegospotami. Cut off from its fleet and food supply, Athens was starved into surrender, leading to the dismantling of its empire, the tearing down of its defensive Long Walls, and the end of the war.
