An American institution since 1903, the World Series is the most famous contest in baseball. Held annually each autumn (hence its nickname the "Fall Classic"), the Series is a best-of-7 playoff between the champion teams of the American League and National League. The winner takes home the Commissioner's Trophy, and the honor of being known as the best team in MLB.
