Giselle is a classic Romantic ballet about a innocent peasant girl who dies of heartbreak after discovering her lover, Albrecht, is a nobleman betrothed to another, and who then returns as a spirit to save him from the vengeful Wilis. First performed in Paris in 1841, it remains one of the most beloved ballets for its tragic love story and famous Act II ghost scene.
