The 5th IDA World Congress, themed "In Harmony with the Environment," was held November 3–6, 1993, in Yokohama, Japan, bringing together leaders in the desalination and water reuse industry. The event was led by Board President and Congress Chairperson Jamil Al Alawi, with Randolph L. Truby serving as incoming President (1993–1995) and Patricia A. Burke as Secretary General.
