Aachen Carnival is a pre-Lenten festival in Germany, known as the "fifth season," that culminates in the Rosenmontagszug—a spectacular Rose Monday parade through the city centre featuring hundreds of costumed groups, giant decorated floats, music, and sweets thrown to cheering crowds along a roughly 5 km route.
