Magawa
Magawa was a famously decorated African giant pouched rat trained by the Belgian nonprofit APOPO to sniff out landmines in Cambodia, clearing over 140,000 square meters and finding dozens of mines before retiring in 2021. He made headlines worldwide in 2020 when he received the PDSA Gold Medal for animal bravery, and his death in January 2022 prompted widespread tributes to the heroic "HeroRAT."
