Lucia di Lammermoor
*Lucia di Lammermoor* is a famous 1835 opera by Gaetano Donizetti, based on Sir Walter Scott's novel *The Bride of Lammermoor*. It tells the tragic story of Lucia, a young Scottish woman who is forced by her family to marry against her will, driving her to madness and murder on her wedding night—famously depicted in the opera's renowned "mad scene."
