Violent Conflict and Cross-Border Lending
This paper examines how violent conflict affects cross-border lending, finding that banks significantly reduce their international loan exposure to countries experiencing conflict. The withdrawal of foreign credit represents an important financial spillover channel through which violence harms conflict-affected economies.
