Leonce und Lena
"Leonce und Lena" is a satirical comedy by German writer Georg Büchner, written around 1836, which mocks Romantic idealism and the emptiness of aristocratic life. The play follows Prince Leonce of Popo and Princess Lena of Pipi, two bored nobles who flee arranged marriages, meet by chance and fall in love—only to end up marrying after all, with a double likely standing in during the ceremony.
