Brief an den Vater
**Brief an den Vater** ("Letter to His Father") is a long, searing letter written by Franz Kafka in 1919, in which he accuses his domineering father Hermann of emotional abuse and explains how this upbringing shaped his feelings of guilt, inadequacy, and inability to form relationships. His father never actually read it, and the letter was published posthumously.
