**Dornröschen** (Sleeping Beauty) is a classic German fairy tale, collected by the Brothers Grimm, about a princess who is cursed by an angry fairy to prick her finger on a spindle and fall into a deathlike sleep. She and her entire castle slumber for a hundred years until a prince battles through the thorny hedge surrounding it and awakens her with a kiss, after which they marry.
