*Le Barbier de Séville* (The Barber of Seville) is a comic play by Pierre Beaumarchais (1775) about the clever barber Figaro, who helps Count Almaviva win the hand of the beautiful Rosine from her jealous guardian by outwitting them with a series of schemes. It's also famously adapted as Rossini's popular opera of the same name.
