*Moby-Dick* (1851) is Herman Melville's novel about Captain Ahab's obsessive, vengeful quest to hunt down the white whale Moby Dick, told by the sailor Ishmael aboard the whaling ship Pequod. The voyage ultimately ends in catastrophe, destroying the ship and all aboard except Ishmael.
