Variabler Ferientag
**Variabler Ferientag** (variable holiday day) is a school-free day in German-speaking school systems that individual schools can schedule flexibly themselves, rather than being set centrally by the school authorities. It allows schools to place a day off at their own discretion, for example around fixed holidays to bridge longer gaps.
