**Alcina** (HWV 34) is a 1735 opera seria by George Frideric Handel, based on a libretto adapted from Ludovico Ariosto's *Orlando Furioso*. It tells the story of the sorceress Alcina, who lures men to her enchanted island and transforms her former lovers into objects, animals, and plants, until the knight Ruggiero escapes her spell with help from his betrothed Bradamante.
