Bayreuth hosts two major opera festivals in 2027: the world-famous Richard-Wagner-Festspiele (July 24–August 24), held since 1876 at the Festspielhaus on the Grüner Hügel and dedicated to Wagner's operas, and the Bayreuth Baroque Opera Festival (September 7–19), which since 2020 has presented Baroque operas in the historic Margravial Opera House.
