The Stonewall Riots were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the LGBTQ+ community in June 1969, sparked by a police raid on the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village. The uprising is widely considered a pivotal moment that galvanized the modern LGBTQ+ rights movement in the United States.
