Blood red moon
A "blood red moon" refers to a total lunar eclipse, during which the Earth passes directly between the Sun and the Moon, casting its shadow over the lunar surface. The Moon appears red or copper-colored because Earth's atmosphere scatters blue light while bending redder sunlight onto the Moon.
